About Aloha

Aloha Montessori's Director Maggie Eyerman is herself a product of Maria Montessori's education program in her early years from eighteen months until five years old. Maggie has over 35 years’ experience with preschool children. Upon graduating with a degree in Recreation Administration with an emphasis in Therapeutics, she followed her passion and taught children in a Montessori preschool for four years. During this time, she started a successful rhythm, gymnastics, theatrics and movement company called Movin' Kids, for other Montessori preschools in the area.
As a water baby turned Junior Olympian swim competitor, an opportunity arose for her to establish a year-round indoor Montessori based swim School which has been operating for 30 years. Her love and passion for working in many educational capacities with preschool children has led her to realize a lifelong dream in establishing Aloha Montessori.
About Montessori
At the center of Montessori education, is self-direction. Most Montessori education is hands-on and encourages plenty of play and collaborative activities with the other students in the class as well as a variety of outdoor movement-based activities. Mixed-age classrooms, teach children how to work together and learn from each other as they master life skills.
In a Montessori preschool, children are grasping the same concepts as their peers in a traditional classroom, but the idea is for children to learn individually and at their own pace by moving freely around the room and choosing from a wide range of hands-on, age-appropriate activities that are designed to teach specific skills. The primary goal of Montessori education is to help children learn concentration, motivation, self-discipline and a love of learning.
